A MOMENT in TIME • Dior Womenswear Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri and legendary pop icon Maripol reminisce about their most recent collaboration for the French maison’s Pre-Fall 2021 collection and their memories of the golden age of disco and Fiorucci.

No filter • From Yayoi Kusama’s Tate Modern shows to the recently opened Superblue in Miami, overwhelmingly sensory experiences have swept social media by storm. But what is the distinction between art and attraction?

For the LOVE of FASHION • Laura Harrier is a self-proclaimed fashion girl. “I think I came out of the womb that way,” she says. “I don’t know where this obsession came from—it was very far from my suburban middle-class childhood—but I’ve always loved beautiful things.” The actress, who made her big film debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming and has since gone on to star in the Spike Lee-directed film BlacKkKlansman and Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood, has reconciled her love of clothes with an ongoing partnership with Louis Vuitton. After being invited to the French house’s show in Paris—and immediately clicking with creative director Nicolas Ghesquière—Harrier has gone on to attend many more shows, star in campaigns for the brand, and don custom looks by Ghesquière on the red carpet. “With [Nicolas] it’s always about more than just the clothes. He takes inspiration from architecture, art, and design, and references so many moments throughout history, but the collections always feel fresh and modern,” says Harrier.

FIRST not Last • L’OFFICIEL’s history was shaped by Black models whose own stories have gone largely untold. Here, their legacies in fashion and beyond live on.

FRAMES of reference • Things are looking up. Head back into the light with dramatic, oversized sunglasses straight out of the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. As you survey the landscape, you’ll find choices as varied and personal as accessories can be, all the better to fit your individual style: Sleek wraparound shields, pop-inspired aviators, oversized squares, and chunky ovals are ready to anchor any look with a timeless, statement-making cool.

Emily Beecham is ON a Roll • Having gone into neutral for the pandemic-forced break, the critically acclaimed actress is accelerating her return to film with a slew of high-profile, period-focused projects.
