Stevens ("Graveyard Queen" series) introduces a new romantic suspense series starring FBI special agent Thea Lamb. Thea has just come back to her childhood home to support her estranged mother, when she learns that a little girl has been kidnapped. Jacob Stillwell, another FBI special agent and Thea's former lover, is leading the kidnapping investigation. The case has an eerie similarity to the kidnapping of Thea's twin sister, and there's a number of believable suspects. As Thea and Jacob work together to investigate the kidnapping, Stevens weaves an evocative Southern Gothic feel throughout this tale of second-chance romance, with a satisfying conclusion. VERDICT Readers who like their suspense on the spooky side will enjoy this novel and look forward to the rest of the series.--Mary Frances Cely
